Trade rumors involving the Bulls are nothing new — especially when it comes to Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.
They’ve been going on since February. Both LaVine and DeRozan are viewed as the type of players who can help your team win in many ways as the Nos. 2 or 3 options on a contending team Problem is, they’re options Nos. 1 and 1a on the Bulls, and from the looks of things, the Bulls are again headed nowhere.
So it’s really no surprise that opposing teams are keeping an eye on the Bulls situation, as reported by Brian Windhorst of ESPN. After all, they continue to look like a .500 team that may or may not get past the play-in tournament.
“In talking to some people around the league, the scouts are jamming themselves into Bulls games because they realize that at some point, the Bulls may break this team up,” Windhorst said on NBA Today. “And they’re all gathering intelligence like, ‘What’s gonna happen with the Bulls?'”
DeRozan and LaVine, of course, have grown accustomed to this chatter and do the right thing by staying professional and downplaying it. But there is reality in these rumors. When you’re a good player on a team that isn’t great, there’s always a chance the front office could decide to go in another direction. That’s highly likely where the Bulls are today.
