Everyone around the NBA is noticing what’s going on with the Cavaliers. Or as some like to call them these days, Cavs Lite.
That includes teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks, who face the Cavs in Cleveland on Friday. The Bucks (23-8) enter Thursday in second place in the Eastern Conference. With the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, they are true championship contenders.
But the Cavs (18-13) haven’t been too shabby themselves. Since announcing significant injuries to Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, they’ve won five of six. Oh, and Donovan Mitchell has missed four straight with an illness. (The Cavs are 3-1 in those games.)
Also, the last two wins have come on the road — first at Chicago, then at Dallas, where the Cavs overcame a 20-point deficit.
Meanwhile, the Bucks have won eight of their last 10, including Wednesday’s victory at Brooklyn.
“We took care of business and again, games like this, you’ve just got to find a way to win,” Bucks coach Adrian Griffin told reporters, “and get ready for Cleveland.”
By the way, Mitchell very well could return for this one. He was upgraded to questionable before the win over the Mavs, joining his team on the sidelines. That’s a sign he’s close to ready to go.
