After trailing the Pelicans by 41 points and finishing 2-5 on a seven-game homestand gifted by the NBA, the once-mighty Warriors have decided it’s time for change.
And you really can’t blame them, man.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors are making everyone except star guard Stephen Curry available in talks ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline.
Can’t blame them for that, either. Curry deserves to retire as a Warrior. Shooting guard Klay Thompson and forward Draymond Green probably do, too. But if the Warriors want to get better, and we believe they do, then they will likely need to move at least one of the aforementioned.
Thompson has clearly dropped off. Green’s decline isn’t quite as pronounced, but he can’t stay on the court because of repeated meltdowns. He says he’s changed after a league-mandate suspension. We shall see.
“The mindset in Golden State right now is everyone but Steph Curry is on the table,” Charania said during his regular spot on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back.
That’s the right mindset. Golden State, as constructed, is going nowhere. A cleaning of the sinking house is required.

Man, this is a tough way to go out. But Warriors as we once knew them will soon be no more. Very soon. Can’t imagine Klay will be back. Can’t trade Draymond. Never would trade Curry. Kerr? Big question mark. https://t.co/Jgx5HYl13u
