Bulls center Nikola Vucevic has tested positive for COVID-19 and has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Vucevic will have to miss at least 10 days as a result of the positive test, Charania noted.
The Bulls are leaving for a five-game road trip Thursday, and Vucevic will be left behind, per K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
Vucevic joins the likes of 76ers center Joel Embiid and forward Tobias Harris, Cavaliers forwards Kevin Love and Lauri Markkanen, Bucks forward Khris Middleton and Spurs center Jakob Poeltl as those who have already entered protocols this season.
It is believed Vucevic, as the others, has been fully vaccinated.
Vucevic, 31, is averaging a career-low 13.6 points and shooting just under 40 percent in 11 games, but is grabbing 10.9 rebounds and passing for a career-high 4.3 assists.
With the additions of DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball, the Bulls don’t need Vucevic to score as much, though they would like to see his field-goal percentage improve.
That said, all has gone relatively well for the Bulls (8-3) this season, as they are tied for best record in the Eastern Conference.
