Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told NBA reporters that New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson is “high on the list” of potential players to represent the United States at the Paris Olympics this summer.
Kerr is the head coach of Team USA.
“There’s a reason he’s on our list. Because he’s a great, great player and high character, a leader,” Kerr said, via The New York Post. “He’s everything you want as a player. He’s high on our list and he’s definitely somebody we’re considering.”
The Knicks beat the Warriors last night (3/18) by a final score of 119-112. Brunson finished with 34 points and seven assists in 35 minutes while shooting 12-of-25 from the field, 3-of-9 from beyond the arc and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.
According to NBA reporters Shams Charania and Joe Vardon, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday will play for Team USA in the 2024 Olympics. Team USA won its fourth straight Olympic title at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Featuring 28 players who have represented the USA in the Olympics and/or FIBA World Cup, the 2024 USA Men’s National Team finalists are Bam Adebayo, Jarrett Allen, Paolo Banchero, Desmond Bane, Scottie Barnes, Devin Booker, Mikal Bridges, Jaylen Brown, Brunson, Jimmy Butler, Alex Caruso, Curry, Anthony Davis, Durant, Anthony Edwards, Embiid, De’Aaron Fox, Paul George, Aaron Gordon, Tyrese Haliburton, James Harden, Josh Hart, Tyler Herro, Holiday, Chet Holmgren, Brandon Ingram, Kyrie Irving, Jaren Jackson Jr., LeBron, Cam Johnson, Walker Kessler, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Chris Paul, Bobby Portis, Austin Reaves, Duncan Robinson, Tatum, Derrick White and Trae Young.
LeBron, Durant and Curry, three of the greatest players in NBA history, have never played in the Olympics together as a trio. LeBron and Durant have won a gold medal together.
Brunson has career NBA averages of 16.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists with the Dallas Mavericks and Knicks.
