The Charlotte Hornets and forward Miles Bridges have agreed to a contract that will keep Bridges with the franchise, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The deal is for three years and $75 million, Charania added, citing agents Rich Paul and Brandon Cavanaugh of Klutch Sports.
As of earlier this week, Bridges reportedly had been drawing interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers.
But such deals may have been difficult to pull off, particularly from the Clippers’ end of things.
“It would probably take a sign-and-trade deal in which the Clippers to send a draft pick to Charlotte for Bridges, who averaged 21 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 46.2% from the field last season for the Hornets,” wrote Broderick Turner of the LA Times. “Names that have come up for a possible deal are Norman Powell, who makes $19.2 million, and Terance Mann, who makes $11.5 million.”
He averaged 21.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 0.9 steals in 69 games, shooting 462% from the floor and 34.9% on 3-pointers. He made $7.9 million after re-signing with Charlotte last summer.
The 12th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, he carries career averages of 14.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
Bridges, 26, was suspended for the first 10 games of this past season after an investigation into a domestic violence incident — which caused him to miss all of 2022-23. There had been some separate allegations after that, resulting in Bridges turning himself into police.
His new contract comes with no options, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
