It’s August, which means the Cavaliers aren’t exactly moving and shaking. No one in the NBA really is. But hey, there are still some moves that can (and will) be made.
I discussed everything happening with the Cavs, and some speculation, in the latest Hoops Wire Live Show from 330 to Go. Check it out on YouTube or simply via the video directly below.
As I mentioned in the video, the Cavaliers still — yes, still — must figure out what’s next involving Isaac Okoro. I am beginning to suspect he will return and try free agency again next summer. (For now, he is the lone remaining restricted free agent.)
There’s also some talk of the Cavs bringing back veteran forward Marcus Morris. I’d say the odds on that are actually pretty decent, though I’m just guessing. But that theory is based on the fact the Cavs seem willing to pay Morris more than other teams.
Oh, and I also have one grand suggestion for the Cavs in terms of a veteran backup point guard. That would be none other than long-ago No. 1 overall draft pick John Wall. I’m not saying someone such as Wall would land ahead of Craig Porter Jr. on the depth chart.
But I do think the Cavs need someone with experience in the spot in the event Darius Garland is injured. And Wall just happens to be represented by Rich Paul, who represents Garland, among many others. Along with all that, Wall has been adamant that he wants to play again and would do so for cheap.
Just something to think about … like so many other things when it comes to the Cavaliers and this particular show.
