Myles Turner Injury May Force Pacers To Temper Trade Expectations

Pacers center Myles Turner has a stress reaction in his left foot and the injury could potentially impact his trade value, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Indiana announced Turner’s status in a press release on Tuesday.

Turner, 25, is 6-foot-11 and has been at the center of the Pacers’ trade talks in recent weeks, per Wojnarowski. He has entered the week with averages of 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and a massive 2.8 blocks.

The Lakers, Mavericks, Knicks and Hornets have all been linked to a potential Turner trade, though the Mavs have recently backed off those talks, per Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

While the Pacers say Turner will be re-evaluated in two weeks, he very well could remain out beyond the Feb. 10 trade deadline. They have been seeking a promising young player and a first-round draft pick as part of the return for Turner, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

But given the injury to his foot, they may have to temper expectations.

“The injury doesn’t make a trade impossible, but it certainly could be an obstacle in Pacers getting max value for him at deadline,” Wojnarowski wrote. “Team can always wait for the offseason to make a deal too.”
