The Nets have signed Chinese Basketball Association free agent guard/forward Yongxi Cui to a two-way contract, the team announced in a press release.
Cui, 21, is 6-foot-6 and is a product of the NBA Global Academy. He spent last season with the Guangzhou Loong Lions of the CBA, averaging 15.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 56 games. He then went undrafted by the NBA in June.
The Nets did bring in Cui for a pre-draft workout, per NetsDaily. He also appeared in three games for the Trail Blazers in the NBA summer league.
Brooklyn currently has one other player, Jaylen Martin, on a two-way deal — which means they still have a two-way spot available entering training camp.
They have several others on non-guaranteed camp deals, including former Hornets guard Amari Bailey, who reportedly agreed to a deal Thursday.
So the Nets will now have Bailey, former lottery pick Killian Hayes, Mark Armstrong, and KJ Jones coming to camp on Exhibit 10 deals.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.
