Kings Signing Justin Powell To Camp Deal

The Kings are signing shooting guard Justin Powell to an Exhibit 10 contract for training camp, agent George S. Langberg told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.Justin Powell, Charge, Cavaliers, Kings, NA

Powell, 23, is 6-foot-6 and went to training camp with the Cavaliers as a rookie last season but did not make the standard roster. He instead played for the Cleveland Charge of the G League, averaging 6.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 44 games.

His rights were traded from the Charge to the Stockton Kings in a three-team trade earlier this month. So Stockton is likely where Powell is headed next.

He went undrafted out of Washington State in 2023 and also spent some time with the Heat.

An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed minimum-salary deal. It doesn’t count toward a team’s cap unless the player makes the final roster. It also can be converted to a two-way deal before the season begins or mean guaranteed money if a player is waived and then stays on the G League club for at least 60 days.

Sacramento has 19 players on the camp roster, with the NBA limit set at 21. So no other move will need to be made.

The Kings open training camp on Tuesday, aiming to build off a season in which they beat the Warriors in the play-in tournament, before losing the next play-in game to the Pelicans and missing the playoffs.
