The Rockets are waiving guards D.J. Augustin and Armoni Brooks following a trade with the Celtics ahead of Thursday’s deadline, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
As part of the trade, the Rockets are receiving point guard Dennis Schroder and big man Bruno Fernando. They also received center Enes Freedom, but he is expected to be waived when the deal becomes official.
Schroder is on an expiring contract, so his future in Houston remains unknown. Still, the Rockets had to cut some players to make the deal work.
Augustin, 34, has appeared in 34 games and is averaging 5.4 points and 2.2 assists, shooting 40 percent from the field.
Brooks, 23, is averaging 6.2 points in 41 games, after averaging 11.2 in 20 appearances last season as a rookie.
