New York City is expected to phase out its vaccine mandates within the next several weeks, which would mark a return to the court on a full-time basis for Nets star Kyrie Irving.
Mayor Eric Adams announced a plan for NYC to scale back and eventually end the mandates throughout the city.
Irving has stated he has no intentions to receive the vaccine and therefore has been ineligible to play in home games at the Barclays Center or road games at Madison Square Garden vs. the Knicks.
Quite significant from @NYCMayor discussing for the first time his desire to (eventually) remove vaccine mandates.

At first, the Nets intended to hold out Irving for the season for all games. But a winter COVID-19 surge decimated the roster, leading to the Nets’ decision to invite back Irving, and he has been playing in most road games since.
Brooklyn recently traded for guard/forward Ben Simmons, and while he is still reportedly weeks away from taking the court, the Nets’ new Big Three could be at full strength by the end of the season, with Irving, Simmons and Kevin Durant, who is still nursing an injury of his own.
