Trail Blazers Likely To Be Active, With Trade Calls Coming On Jerami Grant, Others

The Portland Trail Blazers are expected to be one of the more active teams in the NBA trade market as the deadline approaches, and Sean Highkin of the Rose Garden Report identifies a handful of players who could be on the move if the right offer comes along.Jerami Grant, Trail Blazers, NBA

Among the most notable names are Jerami Grant, Deandre Ayton, Anfernee Simons, Matisse Thybulle, and Robert Williams III.

Grant, in particular, could be at the top of the list. The versatile forward has been a steady contributor for Portland, and there’s a strong market for his services.

Highkin suggests that now may be the ideal time for the Blazers to move Grant, especially with his stock at a high point. He’s putting up solid numbers and has shown his ability to step up in big moments, including a 32-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.

However, while teams are expressing interest in Grant, sources say that rival clubs are not willing to part with two first-round picks for him — which is what the Blazers are reportedly seeking.

That said, there’s a chance that could change as the deadline nears and the market evolves. If Portland is patient and Grant continues to play at a high level, the Blazers may be able to get a lucrative return.

In addition to Grant, others such as Ayton, Simons, Thybulle, and Williams could indeed also be in play, though none are likely to generate the interest of Grant.

Basically, the Blazers are clearly looking to make a move to improve their future, and the next few weeks could determine which direction they go. Expect Portland to be a team to watch as the deadline draws closer.
