The Nets were hopeful newcomer Ben Simmons would be able to join the team on the court before the playoffs, but that possibility is suddenly looking fairly bleak.
While Simmons has been around his Nets teammates, a back issue has kept him from participating in practices or even individual workouts, coach Steve Nash told reporters.
Simmons, 24, was able to do individual workouts a week or two ago, and Nash said he isn’t sure if Simmons was suffering from back soreness at the time. He recently underwent an MRI, which revealed nothing serious, per reports.
Simmons was acquired of the James Harden trade with the 76ers. He has yet to play a game this season, and his return to action is suddenly very much up in the air.
