The Magic have signed point guard Devin Cannady for the final day of the regular season, the team announced in a press release.
Cannady, 25, is 6-foot-2 and signed a 10-day deal with the Magic back on March 31. He has since appeared in four games and compiled averages of 8.8 points and 2.0 assists.
He also appeared in 16 games with the Lakeland Magic of the G League this season, averaging 15.8 points and 2.8 rebounds. He had been shooting 47 percent on 3-pointers in the G League.
He is the reigning G League Final MVP after helping Lakeland win the title last season. Cannady appeared in eight games with Orlando last season as well, averaging 4.0 points. He was then waived by the Magic in training camp.
Canady filled the available roster spot created after Jeff Dowtin‘s 10-day contract expired. Dowtin appeared in four games.
Signing Cannady was just another way for the Magic to audition players in hopes of making strides next season.
