Amico on The Fan: Cavs Must Take Nothing-to-Lose Approach

CLEVELAND — If the Cavaliers don’t win three straight, the season is over. They know that as they enter Game 5 vs. the Knicks on Wednesday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.Julius Randle defends Darius Garland

But that can’t win all three games on Wednesday. They can only win one. They know that, too. So what’s the best approach for that game? Perhaps their only hope is to take a nothing-to-lose rally cry. Sometimes, that works for a team with a younger core.

At any rate, I joined Andy Baskin and Jeff Phelps of 92.3 The Fan to discuss all that and more ahead of Game 5. You can give a listen on The Fan website right here or in the option below.

  1. Disgustingly Embarrassing ! They Can NOT shoot ! They can NOT rebound ?
Maybe they NEEDED Markkanen’s 7ft height rebounding AND 3 point shooting… oh wait,
They gave him away just when he was the MOST IMPROVED PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE!
This was showing up in his offseason play in Finland ! ! He was killin’ it.
Darius finally admitted he has had Lackadaisical passing lately causing turnovers !
Wow. We sorta knew that from looking at the tapes again and again game after game.
Sorta thought the “team” would be looking at those same tapes,,,, guess not ?
Darius has become quite predictable game after game dancing around at the top of the key burning clock until he has to try to penetrate for a collapsing defense of 2, 3, or 4 players who have also watched the tapes, only to throw up a desperation shot that gets blocked or try to toss a pass to the corner three with .8 seconds left. ? NOT ALLSTAR this season !
I’m unfortunately saddened by they’re not getting some “shooters” before the trade deadline. Same for SOMEONE to rebound. They’ve needed both ALL SEASON. –& NO PICKS IN THE DRAFT either. SAD. I’m surprised by Mobley, who looked lost most of the whole series ? ?
I AM glad they did get Mitchell, but losing the versatility of Markkanen in 3 pt shooting and defense (height) and the ability to pass OVER the defense when on offense…. They really needed to get a close to talent replacement — but where can you get all that in ONE person?
If they stay pat with what they’ve got, I don’t see much improvement next season.
    –NO BENCH!
Sorry. I really hope I’m wrong.
