Andre Roberson Acquired by OKC Blue

The Oklahoma City Blue has acquired guard/forward Andre Roberson from the G League’s available player pool, the team announced.Andre Roberson

Roberson, 31, is 6-foot-7 and obviously no stranger to Oklahoma City. He played for the Thunder from 2013-20, becoming a defensive stopper next to the likes of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

But Roberson suffered a season-ending knee injury early in 2020-21, appearing in just seven games. He then became a free agent, signing with the Nets in February 2021, before getting waived a week later. He has been out of the NBA ever since.

In all, Roberson started in 269 games for the Thunder, including every one of the 79 games in which he appeared in 2016-17. He carries career averages of just 4.5 points and 4.0 rebounds, but proved to be the ultimate utility player for winning teams.

Roberson becomes the second veteran free agent to be acquired by a G League club this week, joining guard/forward Tony Snell, who was acquired by the Maine Celtics. (Full post.)
