Andrew Wiggins Expected to Attend Warriors Game on Tuesday

Warriors small forward Andrew Wiggins is nearing a return to action and is expected to attend Tuesday’s game against the Thunder, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.Andrew Wiggins helps up teammate Stephen Curry

Wiggins, 28, has missed 21 straight games to deal with a personal matter. Charania reported that Wiggins’ father Mitchell Wiggins, a former NBA guard, has been dealing with an illness.

While Wiggins may attend Tuesday’s game, it is not believed he will suit up and play, sources told Hoops Wire. He is expected to play this week, reported Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Wiggins’ teammates and coaches have expressed concern without getting into details about his situation.

“We’d love to have him and hope that that does happen, because we want to be whole and I’m sure he wants to be a part of this,” guard Steph Curry told reporters last week. “But when he walks in the door, it’ll be when it’s the right time for him. That’s kind of the expectation at this point.”

Wiggins was an All-Star for the first time in 2021-22 but has appeared in only 37 games this year. The former No. 1 overall draft pick is averaging 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and shooting 47 percent from the field, including 39 percent on 3-pointers.

He also served as a strong defensive presence during the defending champions’ title run last season.

Golden State (41-38) currently sits in sixth place in the Western Conference, tied with the Clippers record-wise, but just a half-game ahead of the Lakers and Pelicans. So every game looms large.
