There appears to be no end in sight when it comes to the saga of Damian Lillard being traded from the Trail Blazers to the Heat.
Basically, the Blazers may trade Lillard, yes. But to his demanded destination of Miami? Well, it’s not looking real good.
Per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, a source who spoke to the Blazers’ front office relayed that Portland believes a Lillard trade with the Heat is “unlikely.”
Again, that’s not to say Lillard won’t be traded. The Raptors are considered the frontrunners, as we relayed here. The Celtics, 76ers, Bucks and Bulls have also shown interest.
The Heat really want Lillard, but not at all costs, as we also relayed. Multiple reports suggest their starting offer was guard Tyler Herro and two first-round picks. No thanks, said the Blazers.
Now, the Blazers and Heat are believed to be barely talking, as both sides are firm on the deal they want — and it’s not really close.
Lillard may eventually get his wish and end up in Miami. But from the sounds of things, it may not be the Trail Blazers who send them there.
