The Trail Blazers are seeking help for star guard Damian Lillard and Heat power forward Bam Adebayo is on their radar.
Per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Blazers are indeed pursuing a trade for Adebayo, perhaps floating the No. 3 pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft as part of the return.
For the record, Lillard and Adebayo formed a bond during the 2020 Olympics, as both were members of the U.S. men’s basketball team.
As for the Heat’s willingness to deal Adebayo … well, it doesn’t seem too likely given they just made a run to the Finals. Per Fischer, the Heat wouldn’t even consider a package unless it were to include guards Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe, along with the No. 3 pick.
The Blazers reportedly view Adebayo and Clippers forward Paul George as the type of players they would want if they were to surrender their lottery pick. They don’t think quite that highly of Raptors forwards Pascal Siakam or OG Anunoby, Fischer added.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans are also still trying to land G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson in the draft, and it’s unclear who the Blazers would be seeking if they made such a deal (involving the No. 3 pick). But it would highly likely be New Orleans power forward Zion Williamson or small forward Brandon Ingram.
