Former West Virginia coach Bob Huggins is joining a weekly one-hour radio program about Big 12 basketball and hosted by the Charleston Gazette, as relayed by the outlet.
The show, called Full Court Press, will feature commentary and analysis by Huggins — who parted ways with WVU after the season.
“Coach Bob Huggins, with his extensive experience and knowledge in the sport, provides valuable insights, analysis, and exclusive stories from his career,” the show announced in the About section. “The show offers a comprehensive look at the West Virginia University basketball team’s performance, strategies, and player development while also delving into the broader landscape of Big XII basketball.”
Huggins’ final season with the Mountaineers came with its fair share of controversy.
First, he was suspended for the first three games after suspended and had his salary reduced after using a homophobic slur appearing on Bill Cunningham’s “Stooge Report” on 700 WLW.
He was then arrested for a DUI in Pittsburgh in June, later supposedly resigning from his job. “My recent actions do not represent the values of the University or the leadership expected in this role,” he said at the time.
But in a letter from his attorney, Huggins said he did not resign as WVU basketball coach.
Huggins, 70, began his Division I coaching career at Akron in 1984. He went on to coach Cincinnati (1989-2005) and Kansas State (2006-07) before taking over at West Virginia. He sports an all-time record of 863-389, the eighth most wins in men’s college basketball history.
