Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal is headed to the Suns and that’s by choice.
Per a report from The Athletic, Beal chose the Suns over the Bucks, Heat and Kings, along with several others.
As part of the trade, the Wizards will receive guards Chris Paul and Landry Shamet, and multiple second-round picks, and possible first-round pick swaps. A third team could be brought in to reroute Paul to a new location, potentially the Clippers, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT.
Beal had a no-trade clause in his contract, allowing him to have a strong say in his next destination.
The Wizards, meanwhile, are also believed to be potentially sending guard Jordan Goodwin to the Suns as part of the deal — clearly made so new team president Michael Winger can clear out cap space and reset the roster.
Beal gives the Suns a new Big Three, joining forward Kevin Durant and shooting guard Devin Booker.
It remains to be seen how this deal is finalized, but this much we know — the NBA offseason has barely begun, and already, there are some major moving parts.
