Bucks Could Have Trade Interest in Suns’ Bradley Beal

The Milwaukee Bucks have not been told to steer clear of pursuing Jimmy Butler, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re actively preparing an offer for the Miami Heat star either, per NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.Bradley Beal, Phoenix Suns, NBA, Heat

Instead, the Bucks seem to be more focused on a potential move for Bradley Beal from the Phoenix Suns.

That could play out in one of two ways: either as part of a broader trade package that ultimately sends Butler to Phoenix — which is where Butler has reportedly expressed interest in landing — or as a standalone deal that sees Beal heading to Milwaukee in a separate transaction.

Milwaukee had previously expressed interest in Beal during his time with the Washington Wizards, and there’s a chance they might revisit that interest now, Stein noted.

However, there’s a wrinkle in all of this: It’s unclear whether Beal would be inclined to waive his no-trade clause and approve a move to the Bucks. Additionally, any trade for Beal would require Milwaukee to get under the second salary cap apron in order to aggregate the necessary salaries.

One option the Bucks are likely exploring involves finding a team to absorb Pat Connaughton’s $9.4 million contract, which would allow Milwaukee to facilitate a deal for Beal without taking back significant salary in return.

“Whether that means Milwaukee eventually emerges as a Butler suitor remains to be seen,” Stein wrote.

Stay tuned, as this is one situation that could continue to evolve as the NBA trade deadline approaches.
