The Bucks have agreed to a three-year contract with rookie guard/forward Georgios Kalaitzakis, according to Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
Milwaukee confirmed the signing in a press release, though terms of the deal were not announced.
Per Nehm, the Bucks “used part of the mid-level exception to allow the deal to last longer than two years.”
Kalaitzakis, 22, is 6-foot-8 and was selected by the Pacers with the 60th overall and final pick of the 2021 NBA Draft. His draft rights were quickly traded to the defending champions.
“The Bucks, who also used $4MM of their mid-level on George Hill, aren’t hard-capped because they haven’t spent more than the $5.89MM taxpayer portion of the MLE,” noted Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
Kalaitzakis is said to be a promising, versatile prospect who can play either guard position or even serve as a “point forward.”
That said, he averaged a mere 2.6 points and 1.0 rebounds in 27 games with Greek league champion Panathinaikos last season, and likely has a ways to go to be a regular NBA contributor.
