The MarJon Beauchamp experiment in Milwaukee appears to be coming to an end.
According to Marc Stein of the Stein Line, the Bucks and Klutch Sports Agency are already on the lookout for a new home for the young forward, who has struggled to carve out any meaningful role this season. The Bucks recently declined his fourth-year option, which essentially signals they’re ready to move on from the No. 24 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
In just his second season, Beauchamp is averaging a meager 2.6 minutes per game, and with the Bucks in full “win-now” mode, there’s little room for development projects on this roster.
Milwaukee’s focus is squarely on maximizing Giannis Antetokounmpo’s prime and competing for a title, so young players who need time to develop just aren’t in their plans right now.
Still, Beauchamp has some intriguing upside. At 22, he’s a long, athletic forward with potential on the defensive end, and you’d better believe rebuilding teams are taking notice. He may not have found his niche in Milwaukee, but in the right system — where he can actually get minutes — Beauchamp might just be able to make an impact.
For now, it’s clear the Bucks are focused on the present with the likes of Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, and Beauchamp could soon be packing his bags for a fresh start elsewhere.
