Bryson Graham preaches patience after Bulls land No. 4 pick

The Bulls caught a break on lottery day. A big one.

Chicago jumped from No. 9 to No. 4, giving new head of basketball operations Bryson Graham an early boost. He sounded like someone still trying to process it.

“It’s exciting, man,” Graham said, via The Athletic. “I can’t believe it. I just got the job and I got the fourth pick. It’s crazy, man.”

The opportunity is real. The expectations, at least internally, are staying grounded.

The fourth pick likely puts the Bulls in range for a high-end prospect such as Caleb Wilson or Cameron Boozer. That matters. It just doesn’t fix everything overnight.

Graham made that part clear.

“Let’s not sit here and say because we have the fourth pick and all of a sudden this franchise is back,” he said. “This is a good opportunity to add high-level talent to our group and build this.”

That word build keeps coming up. Graham isn’t rushing it. He wants layers, not shortcuts.

“So it’s exciting,” he said. “But we’re going to do this the right way and layer it appropriately.”

For a franchise searching for direction, it’s a start. Not the finish.
