The Bulls may be focused on signing point guard John Wall or guard Patrick Beverley following Russell Westbrook‘s decision to sign with the Clippers, per K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.
It previously had been reported that the Bulls were targeting Westbrook above other potential free-agent signings.
Either way, they have clearly been on the lookout for help in an attempted playoff push, especially with point guard Lonzo Ball missing the entire season with a knee injury.
Wall, the former No. 1 overall draft pick, might be their preference, sources told Hoops Wire. He was traded by the Clippers to the Rockets at the deadline earlier this month, and has since been waived after a contract buyout. Wall has cleared waivers.
Meanwhile, like Westbrook, Beverley was traded by the Lakers, with Beverley going to the Magic for center Mo Bamba. The Magic and Beverley have also agreed to a buyout and he also cleared waivers and is eligible to sign anywhere.
Beverley is a Chicago native, but Wall is considerably more of a true point guard.
Wall averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 assists in 34 appearances with the Clippers in his lone season with the franchise. Reports have surfaced that he could potentially return to the Wizards.
Beverley averaged 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds, shooting 41 percent from the field in 45 games in his lone run with the Lakers. He has also spent time with the Timberwolves, Clippers and Rockets.
