Veteran guard Cameron Payne is headed overseas after another NBA opportunity failed to materialize.
Payne has signed a one-year contract with Turkish club Anadolu Efes, the team announced. Sportando also relayed the signing.
The move comes after Payne worked out for the Kings in August but remained unsigned as training camps opened. At 32, he’ll now return to Europe rather than wait around for an NBA roster spot.
Payne spent part of last season with KK Partizan in Serbia before returning to the NBA with the Sixers in February. He appeared in 20 games for Philadelphia, averaging 7.4 points and 2.6 assists in 17.0 minutes while shooting 37.6 percent from the field and 33.0 percent on 3-pointers.
He eventually fell out of the rotation and later dealt with a hamstring injury before Philadelphia waived him in April.
Payne has played 499 NBA regular-season games, including 72 starts, since Oklahoma City selected him in the first round of the 2015 draft. His NBA travels have also included stops with the Bulls, Cavaliers, Suns, Bucks and Knicks.
