Right now, all is going well for the Cavaliers. They sport the NBA’s best record (36-7) and have hardly skipped a beat despite a few losses over the last few weeks.
But guess what? No one goes undefeated — so please, stop acting like the Cavs should. Anyway, I discuss the season to date and what’s ahead in the latest Hoops Wire Live from 330 to Go. Watch here or directly below.
As you know, the Cavs are coming off a tough loss to the Rockets, in Houston, despite an incredibly valiant effort. They lost a toughie, yes. But sometimes, it’s losses like those that can make a team even better.
Besides, it’s not about beating the Rockets or Thunder or Celtics or Knicks (or anyone) in January. It’s about learning lessons and getting yourself at your very best for when it really matters … in April, May, and if you’re fortunate enough to get there, June.
Speaking of, yes, I do believe the Cavs can win a championship THIS season. It seems to me a lot of people have major doubts about that. I wonder why? Is it the Cleveland anxiety we often display about our sports teams?
If so, hey, I certainly get that. But the reality is, the Cavs entered Friday with the league’s best record and despite three losses in three weeks, are playing as well as anyone, better than most.
Did you know the Boston Celtics are .500 in their last 20 games? Or that the Thunder lost to the Mavericks — again? OKC is 0-3 against Dallas this year. And Dallas is the same team that knocked the Thunder out of the playoffs last year.
Imagine the panic in Cleveland if the Cavs had played the Celtics three times and lost all three. But again, it’s not about being awesome in January … or February … or March. It helps, but it’s not everything.
Anyway, check out the full show here, or above. Thanks a ton for following along.
