Serena Winters to serve as Cavs sideline reporter for radio broadcasts

Cavaliers games on FanDuel Sports Network Cleveland are no more, but sideline reporter Serena Winters is marching on.

More specifically, Winters will serve as the sideline reporter for Cavs playoff broadcasts on the team’s radio network. She has been serving in the same role for the FanDuel Sports regional broadcasts since 2021.

Along with that, Winters served as pre- and postgame host for road games on FanDuel during the regular season.

As you likely know, the Cavs’ run of 20-plus years on FanDuel Sports Cleveland has come to an end. It was previously known as Bally Sports, and FOX Sports Ohio before that. But the network is collapsing — so the Cavs will have to find a new regional home next season. (Fear not, they will.)

While most of the on-air talent is expected to return, nothing is official. As one staffer said, “When you find out, let me know.”

So, no Cavs playoff games will be carried locally. Instead, they’ll all be on national networks or streaming services, starting with Game 1 of their playoff series against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday. That will air on Amazon Prime (1 p.m. EST).

Game 2 is scheduled for Monday night and will be shown on Peacock. Game 3 is Thursday in Toronto and will be carried by ESPN. The rest of the television schedule is TBD.

As for radio, the Cavs’ network consists of 28 stations. That includes flagships 100.7 FM WMMS and WTAM 1100 AM/106.9 FM. All games will air on WMMS. Those that don’t conflict with the Cleveland Guardians will also air on WTAM.

All Cavs playoff home games will also be available in Spanish on LaMega 1300 AM, featuring bilingual play-by-play announcer Rafa Hernández-Brito, the host of Full Court Cleveland, on which Yours Truly also appears.
