Cavs’ Ty Jerome out vs. Nets; Donovan Mitchell, De’Andre Hunter questionable

The Cavaliers could be without three massive guns in Tuesday’s home matchup with the Brooklyn Nets, according to the official NBA injury report.

They for certain are without Ty Jerome, who’s taking a rest game. But they could also be without All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell and fantastic forward De’Andre Hunter.

Both are listed as questionable, as Mitchell is dealing with left groin soreness and Hunter is sick. The Cavs (54-10) are aiming for their second winning streak of 15 games this season.

They also can capture the eighth Central Division title in team history with a win. It would mark only their second Central title without LeBron James on the team (with the other coming in 1975-76).

The Nets (22-42) are coming off a win on Monday at home over the LeBron-less Lakers and will be missing several bench players, as well as veteran guard D’Angelo Russell, who has a right ankle injury.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on FanDuel Sports Network Cleveland. The Cavaliers are then off until Friday, when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies. So perhaps some time off for the three aforementioned players would not be a bad thing.

After Memphis, the Cavs return home to face the Orlando Magic on Sunday, before heading out West for a fairly daunting five-game swing. They currently hold a 7.5-game lead over the Boston Celtics for the top seed in the Eastern Conference, with 18 to go. So it’s likely just a matter of time before clinching.
