Are the Cavaliers coming to satellite just in time for the home opener?
According to Danny Cunningham of The Inside Shot and Locked on Cavs, that seems to be the deal. As you know, the Cavs reached an agreement with DAZN to broadcast regional games this season. It created somewhat of a fuss. And that’s putting it mildly.
But per Cunningham, games will be available on DirecTV now, too. He cited a source in reporting an agreement to carry Cavs games beginning with Saturday’s home opener against the Nets at Rocket Arena. The Cavs have not confirmed or announced the arrangement.
“The game will be available to DirecTV customers on channel 660,” Cunningham wrote.
A subscription to DAZN costs about $20 a month, leading to some public outrage on social media from Cavs fans. The next questions are which DirecTV packages would include the games and whether there would be an additional charge.
If games are included in customers’ existing packages, it’s also fair to wonder whether those who already purchased DAZN subscriptions could receive refunds.
The reported agreement doesn’t address access through Spectrum, YouTube TV or other providers. But it could be viewed as a start.

Earlier in the week, Ken Carman of 92.3 The Fan blasted the Cavs on the air for their agreement with DAZN.
“I think a lot of people are not going to pay this,” Carman said. “It’s bad for me, it’s bad for the team, it’s bad for the fanbase, it’s bad for what we do.”
Would a move to DirecTV fix everything in the eyes of fans? Probably not. But it would make their games available to more people, and that probably counts for something.
