Cavs’ Donovan Mitchell Considered Doubtful vs. Grizzlies

Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell did not practice Tuesday as a result of a left groin strain, coach J.B. Bickerstaff told reporters.Donovan Mitchell

While the official injury report has yet to be revealed, Mitchell is considered doubtful for Wednesday’s road game vs. the Grizzlies, a source told Hoops Wire.

Mitchell suffered the injury in Monday’s home win over the Pelicans and was forced to exit in the second half. Clearly hobbling a bit, he scored 11 points before making his way to the sideline, where he remained to cheer on his teammates.

Mitchell, 26, is leading the Cavs in scoring in his first year with the franchise, averaging a career-high 28.4 points on a career-high 48 percent shooting. He is also at a career-best 39 percent on 3-pointers.

Bickerstaff said immediately after Monday’s win he did not yet know the extent of Mitchell’s injury.

The Cavs (28-17) return home Friday to face the defending champion Warriors, followed by a home game against the Bucks — the 2021 champions — the following night.
