Cavaliers forward Evan Mobley is officially listed as out with a left ankle sprain for Wednesday’s home game against the Mavericks.Evan Mobley

Mobley suffered the injury in the first half of Monday’s win over the Magic, exiting the game for good. He underwent an MRI on the ankle on Tuesday, per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

The Cavs (42-33), of course, are also minus starting center Jarrett Allen, who remains out with a broken finger. Point guard Rajon Rondo has been upgraded to doubtful with an issue ankle.

On the bright side for the Cavs, X-rays Mobley’s ankle taken during the game were negative, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Given that the tests came back negative, Mobley is likely considered day-to-day.

Mobley is one point away from his 1,000th of the season. The severity of the injury had not yet been determined as of halftime and it it not known if Mobley will need to miss games.

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Mobley is averaging 15.8 points and 8.3 rebounds in 66 games, and considered the frontrunner for Rookie of the Year.
