Cavs’ Evan Mobley to undergo knee surgery, likely out 6-8 weeks

Cavaliers power forward Evan Mobley will need surgery on his left knee and is expected to miss six to eight weeks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.Evan Mobley

The news came shortly after it was revealed that point guard Darius Garland will miss multiple weeks after suffering a fractured jaw, as we relayed here.

With all the injuries, and the seriousness of them, some are starting to think this is shaping up as a lost season for the promising Cavs (13-13), who have yet to put a real run together — mostly because they can’t stay healthy, it seems.

Mobley missed four straight games on the Cavs’ recent swing on the East Coast with what the team called knee soreness. Further examination revealed something more serious.

Cleveland is preparing for four straight games and five of the next seven at home. But down two starters, it’s clearly going to be an uphill climb.

Mobley, 22, is averaging 16.0 points and 10.5 rebounds, shooting 57 percent from the field, in 21 games in his third season.
