The Cavaliers could have an interesting competition brewing for their final two-way contract.
NBA teams are allowed three two-way players. Cleveland currently has two (Luke Travers and Nae’Qwan Tomlin), which leaves one slot open heading into training camp. And with several Exhibit 10 guys in the mix, the Cavs may have a real battle on their hands if they decide to use that spot right away.
Tristan Enaruna, Chaney Johnson, Miller Kopp and Norchad Omier headline the group of camp invites who are eligible to compete for it. All four signed Exhibit 10 deals, along with Killian Hayes, the former No. 7 overall pick who is not eligible for a two-way slot.
Hayes’ situation will be worth watching. If he doesn’t land a standard roster spot, he’d have to either suit up for the Cleveland Charge or seek another opportunity elsewhere. He could stick at least temporarily as the Cavs deal with injuries to Darius Garland and Max Strus to open camp.
The Cavs tip off training camp Tuesday in Florida, with all seven Exhibit 10 signees –including recently waived Warith Alatishe and Jaxson Robinson — expected to spend time with the Charge if they don’t make the NBA roster.
