The Cavaliers released a statement Saturday after reports surfaced that guard James Harden had been arrested in Texas and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.
“The Cleveland Cavaliers are aware of the arrest of James Harden this morning and are in the process of gathering additional information,” the team said. “We are in contact with James and his representation and will continue to monitor developments as they become available. At this time, we will have no further comment.”

The statement came several hours after TMZ Sports reported that Harden had been arrested early Saturday morning in Texas.
According to the report, authorities found a handgun inside Harden’s vehicle. The firearm was allegedly in plain sight and not being carried in a holster. The charge is a misdemeanor.
Harden was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 22, according to the report.
The 11-time All-Star joined Cleveland in a February trade and helped lead the Cavs to the Eastern Conference finals this season.
The organization indicated it is continuing to gather information and did not offer additional comment beyond its initial statement.
