AKRON, Ohio — Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen suffered a left ankle bone bruise at practice and will be out at least two weeks, the team announced in a press release.
That means Allen will likely miss all of the preseason, though the severity of the injury has yet to be determined. One source told Hoops Wire the team doesn’t think it will keep Allen out of the regular-season opener at Brooklyn on Oct. 25.
Allen, 25, averaged 14.3 points and 9.8 rebounds in 68 games last season, shooting 64 percent from the field.
This year, he is backed up by veteran Tristan Thompson and newcomer Damian Jones. Power forward Evan Mobley can also slide over to the center position.
