Cavs’ New Uniforms Draw Mixed Reviews, But Mostly Positive

It’s simple, and for some, that’s the beauty.

For others, the Cavaliers’ new uniforms look like practice jerseys or summer league uniforms.Cavs uniforms

Either way, they are here, and they are indeed straightforward. The white is basically white (with the new Cavs logo featuring a ball going through a hoop), the maroon is basically maroon (featuring the word “Cleveland” in a simple font), and the black has nothing on the front but the “C” from the 2016 championship season.

The white and maroon shorts include the large letter “C,” while the black features the “Cavs” logo. For the record, my personal favorites are the black. Those are sharp. The others aren’t bad. Just very … well, plain. Not my style, but I get it if that’s your thing. None are ugly.

My Cavs on the Break co-host John Sabol of WJW-TV shared my strong opinions on the new logo (we’re not fans), and had this to say about the new uniforms.

“Cavs didn’t overthink this,” Sabol tweeted. “Plain/simple is an NBA trend. This was going to happen once they released their new brand. Would’ve liked more gold trim/pipping on all 3 unis. Black shorts are the best. C-Sword would’ve looked better than the C on the other 2 unis.”

Perhaps Cavs legend Austin Carr put it best. All that really matter is the men in the uniform, and when it comes to the current group of guys, that’s fairly promising.

“Hello Cleveland, Cavs new uniforms, have a great look, put that with their style of play and they will represent the CITY well, GCavs,” Carr wrote.

  1. Gotta cut costs somewhere after giving Garland a perenial all stars pay check after a half season of winning and a red carpet invite to the all star gig in the city he plays for. hint hint there were better guards than DG more deserving . Altman is going to look really short sighted if DG comes back to life this season.
