But coach J.B. Bickerstaff indicated he’s not concerned Mobley will miss the regular-season opener Oct. 19 at Toronto.

“I mean, not now, obviously we see how he responds and all that. We’ll always be safe with our guys,” Bickerstaff told reporters. “Right now there isn’t concern.”

Mobley will be out for the first preseason game at Philadelphia on Wednesday, as well as the Cavs’ Wine & Gold Scrimmage over the weekend at Cleveland State. Beyond that, it will all be up to how the ankle responds to treatment/rehabilitation.

The All-Rookie member suffered the injury when he stepped on center Robin Lopez‘s foot during practice on Saturday, per Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor.

Mobley averaged 15.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 69 games last season, as the Cavs surprised the league on the way to a 44-38 finish. Mobley, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 draft, was a big reason why.
