Cavs Officially Sign Moses Brown To Two-Way Contract

The Cavaliers have officially signed Moses Brown to a two-way contract, the team announced.Moses Brown

Brown had been on the second of two 10-day contracts, but that deal expired Wednesday night. In order to make the move, the Cavs signed former two-way shooting guard RJ Nembhard to a standard contract.

Given that the Cavs had an available spot, no other roster moves were necessary. The contract decisions on Brown and Nembhard were first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Brown has done a solid job of filling in for injured center Jarrett Allen, earning the roster security. Brown went 5-of-5 shooting for 12 points and nine rebounds in Wednesday’s home loss to the Mavericks. (Related Dribbles.)

The Cavs, of course, are also without power forward Evan Mobley for at least the next two games after he suffered a left ankle sprain — leaving them incredibly shorthanded win the frontcourt with just six games remaining.

That said, the Cavs are “optimistic” that Allen will be able to return within the next week, ahead of the playoffs, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Either way, Brown has earned a spot on the team for the rest of the season.

Nembhard, 23, is 6-foot-5 and has appeared in 12 games as a rookie, all with the Cavs. He has been on a two-way contract and also spent some time with the Cleveland Charge, the Cavs’ G League affiliate.

Brown, 22, is 7-2 and has compiled averages of 2.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in seven appearances with the Cavs. He played 26 games with the Mavericks earlier this season.

  1. ALRIGHT ! Not as smooth, sharp or as Potent as Allen or Mobley, but High energy & EFFORT, running the floor at 7’2″, trying very hard with mostly good results. Doesn’t shy away from attackers at the rim like some that just watch the scorer blow by & score ! Good move for Cavs.
