Cavs Remain Active In Search Of Help Around Margins

Now that the Cavaliers have landed their man in shooting guard Caris LeVert, are they done exploring moves ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline?Koby Altman

Well, hardly, as we discussed on the latest Cavs on the Break NBA Podcast. (We even mentioned some potential targets.)

Other reports have also suggested that Cavs president of basketball operations Koby Altman may still have some ticks up his sleeve. That includes Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, who wrote that the Cavs do indeed still want to make some moves around the margins.

That means the Cavs aren’t looking to make any sort of splash, or mess with their core, but that they are still keeping their eyes peeled for fill-ins and near-the-end-of-the-bench help.

It might even mean bringing in an older veteran player who would like to hop on Cleveland’s winning train. We have heard some of the names — Celtics point guard Dennis Schroder, Magic guard/forward Terrence Ross, and so on.

While those type of players aren’t entirely improbable, they are unlikely. Instead, the Cavs may go even lower level than those, perhaps signing a vet on the buyout market, or merely calling up someone from the G League.

Just know that they are open to doing something, small of course, while not disrupting what has been working.

As one rival GM told Hoops Wire after the LeVert trade, “We very much would consider them a team that remains active and a team looking to improve still.”
