CLEVELAND –Well, ready or not, here come the Cavaliers.
That’s right. It’s Media Day. Training camp is a day away, and the gang is all here … with the likes of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert and the rest ready to give it another run.
This year, Max Strus, Georges Niang, Ty Jerome, and Damian Jones are aiming to help the Cavs get a step or two further following a first-round playoff exit. And yes, even Tristan Thompson is back.
The additions are expected to give the Cavs more perimeter shooting for a team that finished near the bottom of the league in that area last season. The returnees are expected to build off their experience.
Sounds simple enough, right? Right.
“You’ll see a change in our offensive system,” coach J.B. Bickerstaff told NBA.com. “Two years ago, we were predicated on a ton of ball movement and body movement. We’re going to try to get back to that, where everybody is moving more, the ball is moving more. Then he gets an opportunity after the defense has shifted to go do what he does best.”
So here we are. Another season. The first preseason game is Oct. 10 in Atlanta. The regular season tips off on Oct. 25 in Brooklyn.
