Celtics’ Jaylen Brown fires back after trade value comments: ‘We playing AI hoops’

Jaylen Brown wasn’t about to let that one slide.

The Celtics star responded Saturday after ESPN’s Bobby Marks relayed a comment from an anonymous analytics staffer who said Brown is viewed as “the seventh-best player on a team.”

Brown quickly pushed back.

“Analytics nowadays used to discredit and control narratives,” Brown wrote on X. “Roll the ball out none of these guys better than me on both ends who does he work for.”

Brown later added another message.

“Nobody has won more combined regular season and playoff games since I entered the league 10 years ago.”

He wasn’t finished.

“Analytics have / are ruining the game we playing AI hoops,” Brown wrote in a third post.

Marks eventually responded as well, saying an important part of his original discussion had been left out of the social media clip that circulated online.

“But what wasn’t posted was the 2m of saying I’m not an analytics person but an eye test guy,” Marks wrote. “That I would want Jaylen Brown on my team. That you impact winning (191-80 in the last 4 years), is a top-10 player and would help any team looking to win a championship.”

Brown has been at the center of trade speculation in recent days as the Celtics reportedly continue listening to offers, though league sources continue to tell Hoops Wire that Boston’s asking price remains significant.
