Celtics Signing Dalano Banton to Two-Year Deal

The Celtics have agreed to a two-year contract with guard Dalano Banton, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.Dalano Banton

Banton, 23, averaged 4.6 points on 42 percent shooting in 31 games. Toronto did not extend a qualifying offer to Banton after the season, making him an unrestricted free agent.

The Celtics are adding backcourt help after trading Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies as part of the three-team trade for forward Kristaps Porzingis with the Wizards.

Banton has spent each of his first two seasons with the Raptors after being selected with the No. 46 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He signed a multiyear deal with the Raptors in August of that year.

He is represented by agent Aaron Turner, who hails from Orange, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.

While no details were released, it’s safe to assume the deal is for the veteran’s minimum and not guaranteed.
