Celtics waive four players

The Celtics have waived Hayden Gray, Milos Uzan, Gabe McGlothan and Tucker DeVries, according to NBA.com’s transaction log.

All four were on Exhibit 10 contracts and are expected to join the Maine Celtics in the G League. They’ll be eligible for bonuses of $91,000 apiece if they spend at least 60 days with the affiliate.

Boston is keeping its other camp invitee, Devin Carter, by converting his Exhibit 10 contract to a two-way deal. Once that move is official, the Celtics will have 14 players on standard contracts and three on two-way agreements.

Leaving the 15th standard roster spot open was expected. Filling it would have pushed the Celtics above the luxury tax line.

Uzan and Gray delivered the strongest preseason numbers among the four players released. Uzan averaged 8.0 points in 14.1 minutes per game, while Gray contributed 6.5 points and 4.0 assists in 15.7 minutes. Each of the four appeared in at least two exhibition games.

Their next opportunity should come in Maine, while Carter gets a chance to continue working with the NBA club.
