The Celtics and Wizards are working on the framework of a trade that would send forward Kristaps Porzingis to Boston and Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon to the Clippers, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
As part of the deal, the Clippers would send forward Marcus Morris and draft picks to Washington, Charania added.
Porzingis has $36 million player option on his contract that is expected to play a role in deal. He could potentially opt in or sign a longer deal before being traded by the Wizards.
All three sides are still working details of a possible trade, per Charania.
Should it go through, the Clippers would be getting the veteran point guard they’ve reportedly been seeking in Brogdon. Meanwhile, the Wizards would be able to clear more cap space as they reset the roster under new team president Michael Winger — who has already orchestrated the trade of star guard Bradley Beal to the Suns.
Along with that, the Celtics would be gaining a prized big man to team with swingmen Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in Porzingis.
Hoops Wire will have much more on this potential deal as the news becomes available.
