We’ve heard the names of the Cavaliers coaching candidates — Kenny Atkinson, Johnnie Bryant, JJ Redick and more.
Who’s the best? Who’s the worst? Who might come out of nowhere?
Well, fear not. I discussed it all on the latest 330 to Go Hoops Wire Show. Not that I really offered any answers. But I did write down a full list on the back of an envelope and three out a bevy of names and opinions.
It’s all right here, in the video below, on the latest HW show from 330 to Go. Check it out.
For the record, I may make that envelope up for auction in the coming weeks. That way someone can buy it and say, “See what an idiot this Amico guy is? This was his list.”
Anyway, as I stated here, my own personal favorite may be Antonio Lang, who I do not believe is an actual candidate. But Lang was a Cavs assistant for four years, before leaving to work as an assistant with Quin Snyder and the Atlanta Hawks. Lang also served as an assistant with the Utah Jazz, so yes, Donovan Mitchell knows him well.
One scout told me that if Snyder were available, he’d already be the Cavs’ coach. That is just how highly Mitchell thinks of him. But Snyder isn’t going anywhere, so to me, Lang may be the best potential hire. I have a feeling he’ll be a head coach somewhere at some point. So why not the Cavaliers right now?
Granted, it will be a bit of a process and the Cavaliers will keep it all close to the vest. Maybe I should just forward them my envelope?
