Clippers’ Max Strus has partial tear in foot, to be reevaluated in four weeks

The Clippers have an answer on Max Strus’ foot injury, and it isn’t the one they wanted.

Strus suffered a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot during Sunday’s preseason game against the Warriors and will be reevaluated in four weeks, per mutliple reports.

Strus came up limping on a non-contact play just five minutes into the game in Hawaii and went straight to the locker room. Coach Tyronn Lue said afterward that such a play is “never good to see.” Tests have now confirmed why he was concerned.

The four-week mark is for another evaluation, not a promised return date. It means Strus will miss the start of the regular season as the Clippers try to sort out a new-look roster.

It’s especially tough timing for the former Cavaliers wing. Strus missed significant time last season after surgery for a Jones fracture in his left foot. This injury is to the other one.

Los Angeles acquired Strus this summer, reuniting him with former Cavs teammate Darius Garland. They’ll have to wait a while longer to play together again.
