Clippers Still Winless With James Harden, Fall to Wounded Grizzlies

So far, the James Harden trade has not gone well — or anything close — for the Clippers.James Harden

Granted, it’s early, but losing to a 1-8 team is certainly less than ideal, especially when you’re playing at home.

But that is what happened to the Clippers on Sunday, dropping a 105-101 decision to the Grizzlies in Los Angeles.

So make it 0-4 for the Clippers since Harden arrived, and five straight losses overall. Harden did make a tying 3-pointer with 1:33 to go but missed another in the closing seconds. He finished with 11 points and went 1-of-7 on threes.

At any rate, this one came to a Grizzlies team that is missing suspended point guard Ja Morant and starting center Steven Adams, out for the season. They entered the afternoon at 1-8. (Interestingly, both Memphis wins have come on the road.)

Paul George scored 26 to lead the Clippers, Norman Powell added 20 off the bench and Kawhi Leonard had 14. Russell Westbrook went for 12 points and nine rebounds on his 35th birthday.

But overall, the new-look Clippers are very clearly still trying to figure out how to finish, play together well for a full game, and get over an early hump. At this point, Harden has yet to help with any of it.
